Simple Tofu

simpleTofuThis is a side dish you can prepare in 5 minutes…really. It’s healthy and my kids love it although its a little tough to get picky kids to like something like tofu.

You can company this with almost any dish in my opinion, but mostly with Asian inspired meals. This high in protein food helps fill you up before the meal so you don’t eat too much of those high fat or carbohydrate foods.

You can experiment with the sauce if you want to adjust to your taste. The key is to make sure there is enough to cover. The tofu will take on any flavor you decide to place on it.

Ingredients:

1 block firm tofu

Green Onions

Black Sesame Seeds

Sauce-

2 T Low sodium Shoyu

1 T Sweet Mirin

1 tsp Sake

dash of Ground Ginger

Instructions:

Mix together sauce ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.

Cut the block of tofu in half then into 1/2 in slices and arrange on a dish with high sides so most of the tofu is showing.

Gently pour your sauce onto the tofu making sure all pieces have some on it. Garnish with green onions and black sesame seeds. Cover and let chill for 5 minutes to let the flavor soak into the tofu. Serve cold or at room temperature.
